Where is all the electricity going to come from to power all those new electric vehicles

Nuclear, you should read popular science there are many new Nuclear power pants being built now!

Did u know u r driving an electric car right now? It is true. Lots of electricity is used to refine gasoline.

If demand for gasoline falls, let is use that same electricity to charge our electric vehicles.

Did u know that lots of energy goes to waste overnight? It is true. Most large powerplants take too long to shut down & start up, so they run all night, even after demand for electricity stops.

Guess when most electric vehicles charge? In the evening & overnight, when demand for electricity is lowest.

Did u know that a small solar panel, big enough to charge an electric car, is really pretty affordable? Given the chance to reduce their car is fuel cost (and pollutants) all the way down to ZERO, do u think a few people might be willing to spend a thousand dollars or two to put solar panels on their garages?

Amazing how some problems just evaporate when u think about them.

They use substantially less energy. Even though they still use it. The amount of energy used to power a conventional vehicle is substantially higher than an electric vehicle. ( no matter where the energy/power/fuel comes from) Look it up the info. on it is abundant. Also look at alternative power plants, and what is already in use around the world and under construction here in the U.S.

Well, u can do what I've done.install a home photovoltaic system. Yes, the upfront cost is expensive, but with the federal/state tax credits & utility rebates, u can knock off about 40% of the cost. Now u r generating ZERO emission electricity to not only charge ur car, but power ur house as well. And u will never have to pay for electricity again (or at least 25 years, the lifetime rating on my panels). Maybe the best perk: decrease ur dependence on Middle East oil!

Good eyes. Being in the car industry myself for employment I have really looked over the future of it all.

Electric seems great but like u said, what r they going to use to make all that electricity let alone how r they going to pump that many watts & amps through the lines, the lines that r already over worked & used now. All over the world we have black outs due to the power grid already being maxed out. Now they want to add more to it at like 10 to the 9 power worth?

Then they mention Hydrogen. At first this seems like the answer, just pour in water & go. But they do not inform u that it has to be pure water, not just tap. Plus they do not mention it still takes something, oil, gas, etc to create a heat source cause the hydrogen process to begin. Let alone hydrogen is a source to store power, not give power. Its not feasible even w/o looking at the explosiveness of it.

Solar would seem the way to go, but we can not put enough solar panels on a car to make it work well. Unless we r all going to lay down & ride in a bike framed car made of nothing but solar panels. So that thought is out.

(we could be an awesome solar world today if we never let big oil not let solar technology expand over the yrs, stuff is still the same as it was 30 yrs ago)

So what is left? Everyone go to scooters & such? Seems logical, other countries do it. Solves parking, gas usage, waste of materials for a car compared to scooter. But we r still at the original problem, using gas, making pollution & scooters put out 4 times the noise pollution as a car. So imagine a world of scooters, would sound like a billion bumble bee is all the time non stop.

So what is left, honestly left? Horse & buggy. Cause that can fuel up anywhere, in any field, no plug, no tires, no gas, no exhaust. Seems radical, nuts, looney, but when u sit down & look at it all, its really the only answer.

Remove oil, remove cars & u will remove the society we know today. There will be no need for large city buildings, nothing u see today. Just removing the car will take us back to 1875 type of living over night. Sure we have homes, small towns, roads, but its all horse n buggy, few small steam cars.

Now some say go back to steam power. Well think of the billions of cars all producing steam all day long. Would create so much water vapor we would no be creating weather & clouds in turn just messing with the weather system even more than CO2 does now.

All we know today & have for the past 100 yrs has all been due to oil. The ride is about over...sure hope many r ready to live like their great grandparents did. I myself have already been looking into it all. Green homes, solar homes, well water, DC motor ran off paddle wheel in stream. How to buy, take care of, house a horse. Looking for one I can ride, pull a cart & plow a small field for my food.

The end is coming..and its coming faster than most even realize. Cars r my life, been my life since I was born, dad was a Snap on Tools guy for his entire career, bro races top fuel dragsters, I am a paint & cosmetics expert. So this is very deep thinking for someone like myself & my background.

Electric cars come with basically a plug that you put into a wall. They think they are helping the ozone and not creating as much fuel emissions by using electricity but that only pulls more electricity coming from the wall.And the electricity coming from the wall comes from a generator that runs on gasoline and creates fuel emissions so basically they are not helping anything.

Have you watched the Flintstones where they run with the car while sitting in the car, that how they are going to get power in those new electric cars.

I totally agree with your thoughts.The one big advantage to using the grid power is that it can be made more efficiently than the automotive engine can,but it is only a small step in the right direction.

In the US, most of our power comes from coal burning power plants. So electric cars do not help unless we build more clean power. IE nuclear, wind, solar, hydro, etc.
